What do I need to do to get better quality work?

If you would like to join our agency and get wedding and corporate work, there’s a few things you need to bear in mind. We care about quality and professionalism. No amount of money thrown at shiny HD videos can make up for a lack of quality, talent or experience. But, if those are in place, then keep reading.

VIDEO

You need a professional-quality video that clearly shows your act in action.

Your video should be no longer than two minutes. It should feature a variety of songs, with the most recognisable material included early on. Do not use full songs; short, exciting clips of choruses and standout moments work much better.

The editing should move quickly, and the video should immediately show the quality, energy and style of your act. Use footage from venues that reflect the type of work you want to secure. For example, if you want wedding and corporate bookings, do not make your main promotional video in a pub.

Sound quality is just as important as the visuals. Ideally, use professionally recorded live audio or a high-quality recording taken directly from the desk. Poor sound can make even a brilliant act seem amateur.

IMAGES

You need at least three professional photographs of your act.

One should be a posed promotional image, where everyone is dressed appropriately for the type of event you want to perform at. The remaining images can be high-quality action shots from live events.

Your images should be clear, well lit and current. They should show the actual line-up that clients will be booking.

Please do not use AI-generated images, heavy filters, collages, text overlays, logos or contact details on your main promotional photographs. The images need to look polished, but real.

A CLEAR PRICE LIST

You need a clear price list or starting-price guide.

You do not necessarily need to publish every possible package and price publicly, but an agency needs to know your standard start pricing, what is included and any extras you offer.

For example, include:

  • Your standard performance fee for local work

  • How long you perform for

  • How many performers are included

  • Travel included in your price, if applicable

  • Any additional costs, such as accommodation, parking, early setup or late finishes

  • Optional upgrades, such as DJ service, extra musicians, ceremony music, lighting or a larger line-up

Be realistic about your pricing. If you are aiming for weddings and corporate events, your prices need to allow you to provide a reliable, professional service and pay everyone involved properly.

A BLOG OR ACT DESCRIPTION

You need a well-written description of your act. This is what an agent can use on a website, in proposals and when talking to clients.

It should explain:

  • What type of act you are

  • What genres and eras you perform

  • The size of your line-up

  • The kinds of events you are best suited to

  • What makes you different from similar acts

  • Where you are based and how far you are willing to travel

Write in a warm, confident and professional tone. Focus on the experience a client will have, rather than simply listing your own achievements.

EXAMPLE SET LIST

You need an up-to-date set list showing the songs you regularly perform.

Group it into useful sections if appropriate, such as Motown, disco, pop, rock, first dance songs or party classics. If you offer different line-ups or packages, make it clear which songs are available with each option.

Your set list should include songs you are genuinely confident performing. Clients want reassurance that you can fill a dancefloor, so make sure your strongest, best-known songs are easy to spot.

A CLEAR BOOKING OFFER

An agency needs to know exactly what it is booking. Be specific about your packages.

For example:

  • 2 × 45-minute live sets

  • Background music before, between and after sets

  • First dance performed live, where applicable

  • Pre-recorded filler music playlist service in between sets and until the end of the night

  • Professional PA and lighting

  • Public liability insurance

  • PAT-tested equipment

The clearer you are, the easier it is for an agent to sell your act accurately and avoid misunderstandings later.

PROFESSIONALISM AND RELIABILITY

Promotional material gets you noticed, but professionalism gets you repeat bookings.

Be responsive, polite and organised. Reply to messages promptly, keep your diary up to date, arrive on time and communicate clearly. Make sure your equipment is reliable, your insurance is current and every member of your act understands the standard expected.

Wedding and corporate clients are paying for peace of mind as much as entertainment. They need to know that you will look great, sound great and make their event feel safe and effortless.

If you can provide all of the above, you will be in a strong position to secure professional work and to be considered for representation by an agency.

Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
