🎤 Audition Information – Beat Connection / The Promise (Female Vocalist)
Overview
Thank you for your interest in auditioning.
We’re looking for a strong, experienced female vocalist who can confidently lead performances at weddings and corporate events, delivering a consistent, high-energy experience.
This page outlines what to expect from the audition and how to prepare.
What the audition will involve
Your audition will include:
• Performing 2–3 songs from our repertoire
• Singing alongside a backing track or live musicians
• Direction during performance (e.g. extending sections, changing dynamics)
We may adjust sections in real time to see how you respond in a live setting.
What to prepare
Please prepare the provided songs thoroughly.
This means:
• Knowing the structure (not just the lyrics)
• Understanding dynamics and energy changes
• Being ready to perform, not just sing
We are looking for vocalists who can step into a live gig situation with minimal rehearsal.
What we are looking for
We are assessing:
• Strong, controlled vocal delivery
• Excellent timing and phrasing
• Ability to lead and engage an audience
• Stage presence and performance energy
• Confidence working with a band
• Ability to follow direction and adapt in real time
This is a performance-led role, not just a vocal role.
Frontperson expectations
As the lead vocalist, you are the focal point of the band on stage.
We are looking for someone who can:
• Take control of the room
• Build energy across a set
• Create a party atmosphere
• Communicate naturally and confidently with an audience
Stage Presence & Presentation
As a lead vocalist, you are the visual and performance focal point of the band.
Strong stage presence is essential. This includes:
• Confidence and connection with the audience
• Natural movement and performance energy
• The ability to lead the atmosphere in the room
Presentation is also an important part of the overall show.
For weddings and corporate events, we aim for a polished, high-end look on stage. This typically includes:
• Performance-ready outfits (e.g. dresses, sequins, formal or statement pieces)
• Hair and make-up prepared to a high standard suitable for stage and professional photography
• A consistent, put-together stage appearance
Our shows are visually high-impact, so comfort with performance styling is important.
What Beat Connection expects from band members
• 100% reliability once booked
• High and consistent performance standards
• Professional appearance on stage
• Strong preparation and knowledge of the set
• A positive, team-focused attitude
The reality of the gigs
Our performances are primarily weddings and corporate events.
This means:
• Clients have high expectations
• Performances must feel polished and effortless
• Energy and consistency are key
• The goal is always a full dancefloor
